The World Environment Day is a platform for action to remember
about the need for the protection of our Mother Earth. It is
also the UN's most important day for encouraging worldwide
awareness and action for the protection of our environment.
Since it began in 1972, it has grown to become a global platform
for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100
countries.
It is also the People's Day above all. The World Environment Day
is the "people's day" for doing something to take care of the
Earth. That "something" can be focused locally, nationally or
globally; it can be a solo action or involve a crowd. Everyone
is free to choose.
The Theme Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme
that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental
concern. The theme for 2018 is beating plastic pollution.
Every World Environment Day has a different global host country,
where the official celebrations take place. The focus on the
host country helps highlight the environmental challenges it
faces, and supports the effort to address them. This year's host
is India.
It is in fitness of things that we remember the talisman given
by Mahatma Gandhi : “The world has enough for everyone's need,
but not enough for everyone's greed”, opined Chancellor Dr.
Priya Ranjan Trivedi, Chairman and Plenipotentiary of the Indian
Institute of Ecology and Environment. He also invited all the
environmentalist to forward their bio-data on email ID :
[email protected] to be considered for presentation of
accolades to them on 5-6 June 2018 at India International
Centre, New Delhi between 9 am and 5 pm.
The revised edition of the Book titled “Ram Nath
Kovind : From Ranks to Raisina” will also be released
on the occasion of the World Environment Day Celebrations and
the National Environment Convention 2018
on 5-6 June 2018 at India International Centre, New Delhi. The
Book titled “Foreign Policies of
Narendra Modi Government” will also be dedicated to the world
citizenry. This photograph was taken
on 25 July 2017 when the Book on Religious Pluralism was
presented to the Hon’ble President of India
by IIEE-NICER Team : Dr. P R Trivedi, Dr. Tanuja Trivedi and
Dr. Utkarsh Sharma
It
may be mentioned the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment
(IIEE) is the only institution in a world to have the credit of
designing more than 50 Graduate and Post Graduate level
programmes related to environment and allied fields. The course
material under self-instructional mode prepared by IIEE runs
into more than half a million pages.
